If you own Outlook Express 5 and you'd like to use some of the tips we used on OE 4, you have to modify them a bit.


To get rid of the OE 5 splash screen:

In the registry (use RegEdit):
Go to the following key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{Identity No.}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0

Add a new DWord value (right-click or Edit | New | DWord Value). Name it "NoSplash"

change the value (right-click or Edit | Modify) to 1.

To change the OE 5 title:

Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{Identity No.}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0 (same key as above)

Add a new String value (right-click or Edit | New | String Value). Name it "WindowTitle"

Change the value (right-click or Edit | Modify) to what you'd like the title to be, like "VBS spread Virii" .
