11/30/99 - Wednesday 15:34 This just brings tears to my eyes: Just think: You've got a nice, 21"
monitor.... What could you do to ruin it? This made me laugh: swiped from slashdot: from the we're-really-and-truly-not-making-this-up dept. Lycestra writes "CNet has an article stating Windows CE is being renamed. In the spirit of such names as Office, Money, and Explorer, it is being renamed "Windows Powered". I expected something more like 'Poke-Windows'." Ha ha.
11/30/99 - Tuesday 21:55 Active Windows added to links page: It's a great site with endless information about everything windows. Check it out! Cursor software tracks web traffic: see the Yahoo story - What's new. If you think you aren't being tracked and tagged by at least 50% of the websites you visit, you probably don't care, or you could use some information... that gives me an idea... and some careless person forgot to upload the image below: I've fixed that.
11/30/99 - Tuesday 13:22
read The Register's story or visit C3D's site for more info.
11/29/99 - Monday 15:31 My good friend Sky tells me there's a new (4th) revision (October 1999) of the book I recommend below. And it's only $12 at Amazon.com - go get it! HTML for the world wide web 4 - by Elizabeth Castro
11/26/99 - Friday 18:33 I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! I know I did. I just made a quick fix to the Get rid of the Windows boot screen page - I had tried some of the methods on that page and they weren't working for me. I just got a cable-modem and AT&T @Home service - it's pretty cool. Don't "hack my box" if you know what I mean.
11/23/99 - Tuesday 02:01
I've looked through quite a few "HTML books," and this one is by far the best. It covers so many issues: the basics, tables, multimedia (images, sound and video), scripts, stylesheets... all that good stuff. It also does something I think is cool - it shows both Netscape and Internet Explorer screen-shots so you can see how different effects work in each browser and it has tips for how to design pages for both. Now I can do some cool effects and maybe make this site look a little
better. On another note: I want to say again that I welcome any contributions, suggestions or recommendations you might have! Just drop me an email: . Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see. I've quit my new "job" that I worked for 4 weeks (can't talk about it because of pending legal action), so I should have some more time to make some improvements to the site. And the counter seems to be working.
11/9/99 - Tuesday 12:53 I'm borrowing a counter from visi.net shhhh - don't tell them. We'll see if it works...
11/6/99 - Saturday 09:27 I've added a link to TweakFiles.com - I found this site over at demonews.com. TweakFiles.com is what I wish this site could be... everything you need to customize your computer - files, discussion forums... be sure to check them out! If only I had more time... I really do need to get these news things automated with ASP. And I think the counter is broken again...
11/5/99 - Friday 18:09 HERE COME DA PAIN !!! Preliminary reports are surfacing that Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson will be ruling that Microsoft is indeed a monopoly in the DOJ vs Microsoft case. You know that part in "Pulp Fiction" ? You know, "get medival on your ass"... If you are a consumer who has purchased a microsoft product, you may be contacted by Microsoft if they need some advice on how to bend over and "take it like a man" - I would assume that Microsoft's customers are very knowledgeable in that subject. See for yourself: http//www.zdnet.com/zdnn/special/msdojendgame.html
10/31/99 - Saturday 07:55
Here's the link: http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/downloads/recommended/sp6/default.asp Oh. Ivan Snopek sent me a link to a program that basically contains over 50 tweaks in help-file format. I'll put it in links: http://www.geocities.com/ics_sonic_boom/ BTW: I took a pull of this site using a linux box and a mac (G3) running both netscape and internet explorer - it actually looks ok
10/4/99 - Monday 17:35 Changed counters. The LinkExchange counter appearantly only tracks 4 weeks worth of hits... I can count 4 weeks worth of hits on one hand. I found a great little ditty by Aaddzz.com - we'll see how it goes. 10/4/99 - Monday 01:02 Year2000 guide conversion completed. 10/4/99 - Monday 01:02 Browser and email tweaks section completed. 10/4/99 - Monday 12:29 Links section completed. I'm just moving the pages to the new look and making any minor fixes as needed, like file-size reduction.
10/2/99 - Saturday 12:32 Information sections done. Browser tweaks, links and files are next... Anyone want the game DARKSTONE? I'm selling one on ebay: this game is less than a month old.
10/2/99 - Saturday 02:43 I just added the menu on the left. It was one of the things I liked about the old site. And it's about the only thing I can get to look decent in Netscape. 10/2/99 - Saturday 01:57 I spend way too much time in photoshop: I updated the "computer customizing..." picture at the top there. If you didn't notice, I've invented my own "standard" graphics width of 720 pixels. The standard 640 was too small and 800 was too big so I went half-way between them. As if anyone cares...
10/1/99 - Friday 13:13 Customizing Tweaks up. - I redid most (both) of the tweaks in there. I'll get to more soon... I also fixed some things in the twaeks and perf pages. 9/30/99 - Thursday 18:29 Performance Tweaks up. - It's been about a year since I even had any performance tweaks. It's pretty meager right now, but I'll add to it as we go. There are a few GOOD links in there, so if you're interested, definitely check it out. I also fixed a little problem with the menu-bar not working. Stay tuned: customizing tweaks are getting redone next...
9/30/99 - Thursday 12:48 Computerworld is reporting yet another security problem in Microsoft's Internet Explorer 5 browser. Read the story here: http://www.computerworld.com/home/news.nsf/all/9909304ie5glitch. There's information about the "glitch," Microsoft's response, and what they recommend you do. (Until a security patch is available, they recommend disabling active scripting). I don't remember if I posted this story from CNET News: http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1005-200-117462.html. It's from 9/13/99 and details another security problem with IE5. That's funny: I've used IE5 for about 4 months now, and I've never had to deal with any security issues: Then again, I do run it with the security settings maxed out: everything is disabled (especially active scripting). I'll put up a little how-to on this shortly. Then you can go to those
hacker sites and click on the "click here to destroy your computer"
links with reckless abandon (like I do!). |
